I know this may sound crazy, but one of the most profound teachings I have learned is to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Out there in this world of heartache and sorrow, there are people close to you that need that uplifting. It could be your next door neighbor, or maybe a family member. When you are feeling down, lift someone else up!
We sometimes feel there is nothing we can do to make our own day better, much less another's, but there is! It could be as simple as making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and taking it next door to an elderly neighbor. Make a phone call to ask how a friend is doing. Instead of dwelling on the little things in your own life, reach out to someone who needs cheering up or needs a hand.
When we focus on others and forget our problems, we have served God. By doing this, we spread kindness and joy. Today and everyday, ask God what you can do for someone else, not what He can do for you. When He brings someone to your mind, take a few minutes out of your day, and do something!
Make a phone call of concern, add more to the dinner you are preparing and share it with a family in need! Run an errand for someone, or just go knock on an elderly neighbors door with veggies from your garden. The list is endless, and you will have brightened the day of someone who otherwise may have been lonely and downhearted. Your heart will be lifted, too!
What can we do for someone else? Share your thoughts with us on what you do... then let's go make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!
